Fashion design & video game characters

Hi all,

I’m doing research on fashion design for video game characters.  Please let me know if you’ve seen any resources on this topic, or know anyone who works in this area.

Thanks a lot!

  1. Thank you, Fred! You found some great resources for me. I’ve also discovered the below items which are useful not only for gaming design students seeking information and inspiration for character design, but for fashion students seeking non-traditional resources for fashion design…

Character Design Studio – (Provides costume inspiration sources.)

100 Ways to Create Fantasy Figures – (information on clothing, silhouette, color, texture)

Exotique: The World’s Most Beautiful CG Characters – (Stunning series of books for inspiration

Digital Art Masters – (Another character-heavy series, good for inspiration)

  2. Hi Sandra,

if one of our students would ask me this question I would come up with the book titles mentioned below. They obviously deal with fashion being inspired by fictitious characters, but I see no reason why they shouldn’t conversely inspire a designer of fictitious characters…

Not a Toy : Fashioning Radical Characters (2011)

Superheroes : Fashion and Fantasy (2008)

Alter Ego : Avatars and Their Creators (2007)

    Dutch designer Bas Kosters
