Call for Reviewers: September Issue Multimedia & Technology Reviews

ARLIS/NA Multimedia & Technology Reviews Co-editors seek volunteers to author reviews for the September 2024 issue. Contributing to ARLIS/NA Multimedia & Technology Reviews is a great opportunity to get involved with the Society, learn about interesting new resources, and help shape the publication.

To volunteer, choose a resource from the list below and complete our Reviewer Interest Form by Friday, June 28, 2024. Initial draft submissions are due Friday, July 26, 2024. Please read the complete review guidelines and direct any comments and questions about the reviews to arlisna.mtr@gmail.com.

What would you like to see reviewed in future M&TR issues? Your input is critical! M&TR reviews investigate and assess a wide variety of online resources supporting arts scholarship, research, and librarianship, including digital tools, projects, and websites. Please submit ideas here.

Resources for Review:

We seek reviewers for the following resources. The snippets below are taken from each resource’s web page and are not necessarily the opinions of the M&T Reviews Co-Editors.

Bloomsbury Dress and Costume Library
https://www.bloomsburyfashioncentral.com/about-bloomsbury-dress-and-costume-library

Released in 2023, this resource joins other Bloomsbury Fashion Central content. The Dress and Costume Library is described by the publisher as “the first comprehensive online collection for the interdisciplinary study of dress and costume history, design, and making.” Resources include the Bloomsbury Encyclopedia of Film and Television Costume Design, over 60 e-books, articles, and garment study videos. (MTR editors can arrange for temporary access to this subscription-based resource).

Fashion Calendar
https://fashioncalendar.fitnyc.edu/page/home

From 1941 to 2014, Ruth Finley published the Fashion Calendar, an independent, weekly periodical that served as the official scheduling clearinghouse for the American fashion industry. Digitized by the Fashion Institute of Technology with a CLIR grant, the back issues of the Fashion Calendar are now searchable, graphable and mappable.
